Nikko

Our next stop is (was) Nikko, a small area classified “World Heritage” by Unesco, 2 hours North of Tokyo. I must say this green spot was welcome to recover from our last night in Tokyo.

Shinkyō

On the first day, we visited a couple of historical buildings: Tōshō-gū, a Shinto sanctuary which used to be the residence of the Tokugawa clan, a lineage of shoguns that ruled Japan for over two centuries. Then the Imperial Villa, found by chance while wandering through the city.

On the next day, we gave up culture for a nature walk around the Chuzenji Lake and a couple of waterfalls nearby.

One of us even found this place very relaxing 😉
